Our next night in New Orleans we ventured out to Mid-City to get some po’ boys at Liuzza’s by the Track. There is actually another Liuzza’s in Mid-City, but as near as we could tell, they’re not related. Two people named Liuzza, both opening restaurants? Only in New Orleans.
Niles and I both got their signature dish, the BBQ Shrimp po’ boy. It was amazingly good, but it sure wasn’t what I would have called barbecue. It was copious amounts of shrimp, stuffed into a giant french roll, drenched in a savory sauce that was… garlicky? Peppery? But by no means barbecue, at least no style of barbecue sauce I’ve ever had. Still, very tasty!

If you get a chance, try the Abita “Pecan Harvest” brew. Very tasty…
I just love how to draw shrimp. They make me incredibly happy for some reason.
Also, I have to agree on the Abita “Pecan Harvest”. It’s so good!
I never saw any of the Pecan Harvest while we were there! Now I feel cheated. Clearly I will have to go back to New Orleans right away. :D
They were just rolling out the Abita Strawberry while we were there, people seemed very excited about it. It was nice, a little lambic-y without being overtly strawberried.
I actually got the Pecan Harvest here in Vermont. I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for the Strawberry!
I’ve seen Pecan Harvest in several bars here in Chicago. I’ve done most of my irresponsible consuming of it at Blind Robin on Western.
