So, for very “Sixteen Candles”-y kinds of reasons, my birthday kinda sucked this year. Dinner at Clear Springs was the high point, though. I ate about a pound of shrimp and some fried pickles and crawfish and it was all extremely tasty. Grilled shrimp, fried shrimp, and jalapeƱo-stuffed bacon wrapped shrimp! It was EXCELLENT.
Really, considering the shrimp that I ate over our trip in south Texas and New Orleans, I should probably be getting some kind of kickbacks from the Gulf area’s tourist board. Or BP, am I right? :D

Nice to see that you can get Shiner Bock in Chicago!
Isaac: you can, but I actually had that Shiner in south Texas. :D We were all super excited when Shiner finally made it to Chicago, but you know what? It just doesn’t taste as good here. My initial theory was that they exported inferior product to us yankees, but my new theory is that it just doesn’t get hot enough in Chicago to make Shiner Bock, erm, shine. :D Some of their other brews taste just fine up here though… I like Shiner Black Lager a lot, and their centennial beer a few years ago was very tasty.
Dang, I feel like a dope. I should have read that more carefully. Didn’t even think twice about location until I saw what you’d been eating for the next few days. (It was the Abita, more than anything, that tipped me off…)
