Longman & Eagle is a gastropub down the street that just opened recently. Randi and Marianna and I opted for some much-needed ladies-only time and a really amazingly tasty meal. Theirs was the best rarebit I have had since leaving St. Louis (I miss you, Dressel’s!), and probably the best I have had ever. The bouillabaisse was super tasty, filled with clams and mussels and shrimp and some of the flakiest whitefish I have ever had.

I’m a facebook fan of L&E, and it’s probably a mistake, because they post stuff like this:
“TONIGHT: Flight of the Pig- AMUSE – Country Pate, Giardiniera, Grain Mustard Crostini. FIRST – Grilled Sausage, Choucroute, Pear-cress Salad, Ephemere Beer Syrup. SECOND – Roast Loin, Beluga Lentils, Bacon, Cippolini Onion, Candy Apples, Brown Butter Apple Sauce. THIRD – Crépenette of Fresh Ham, Creamy Polenta, Morel Mushrooms, Sugo. FOURTH – Braised Belly, Flageolet Beans, Black Olive Caramel. FIFTH- Tête de Cochon, Sauteed Nettles, Grilled Winter Ramps, Sunny-side Quail Egg, Five Spice Mustard Dipper – $45”

Jeeeeez. That third course alone would make me weak in the knees.
