The first time I made myself sushi and tasted the first piece, I started laughing. “What?” Niles asked. “It’s SUSHI,” I said. I think I was surprised that you didn’t have to study for ten years to learn how to make a few simple maki rolls.
It can take a long time to make yourself sushi, but some of the most satisfying meals take the longest time to prepare. I’m lucky enough to have Joong Boo (Chicago Food Co) right up the street from me, and they have just about anything and everything you could need to make your own sushi.
I’m watching Lost as I upload this. It’s a Hurley episode. I heart Hurley. Besides being affable and adorable, he speaks to so many of my own issues, about weight and comfort food and self-loathing. His desperate desire for (and near inability to believe) that someone he finds attractive could see anything attractive in him, it’s so sweet and so sad. Hurley’s probably the most universally beloved character in this show, and Hurley the character would probably have a really hard time believing that.
Also, the titles of the page and the post are Shin Chan references, which probably only means something to me. :)

Hey now, I LOVE Shin Chan. Or did, is it even on anymore? I love that you make sushi, it’s such a…you thing to do.
Yeah, Shin Chan’s gone. You can’t even watch videos on the Adult Swim website anymore. So sad!
