WHAT? Have I seriously not finished off all that black truffle oil? Let’s remedy that.
There were gorgonzola crumbles in the fridge, and a small delicata squash that wasn’t going to last long. So I peeled some garlic cloves, chopped the squash into small cubes, sprinkled both with truffle oil, coriander, and ground black and red peppercorns, and roasted it in a 400 degree oven for about 45 minutes. This is still my current favorite salad, roasted squash and some kind of blue cheese. Also, is there anything better than roasted garlic cloves? I could eat a whole bowl of them. It would wreak havoc on my digestive system but I wouldn’t care, roasted garlic cloves are like candy.
I have been sort of mentally compiling some rules for healthy eating habits for Sarahs. One of them is Do Not Eat First Thing When You Get Home From Work. Do other things first, maybe plan to spend some time preparing a meal, maybe take a bath first or draw or play with the cats. But do not eat right when you walk in the door.
I am pretty bad about following this rule, which explains the pirates booty and peanut butter. But I am pretty happy with the salad, and the time and patience it took to prepare it, even if I did snack on booty while I was waiting. It’s not easy for me to cook slowly and carefully when I’m just cooking for ME, but eventually I’ll get the hang of this.
I have been thinking a lot about what changes I want to make in this comic after the year is up at the end of this month. Like I said before, I think I’m going to cut back to three comics a week – which is only one less than I do right now! I’ll keep the food diary part since everyone seems to like it, but I might open the content up a bit to things that aren’t ALWAYS about food or body image issues. It’ll probably still be mostly about food. :)
PS! I weighed myself this morning, and had gained a pound or two, and grumbled. But then I got dressed, and checked out my profile in the mirror, and was pleased. THIS DICHOTOMY WILL NEVER CEASE TO AMAZE ME.
