We were actually trying to go to the Waterfront cafe again today, but they only had one guy cooking and serving for like a dozen tables, and he wasn’t even going to TAKE more orders for another half hour, so we ended up walking down the street to Summer, under the Granville stop on the red line. We used to do lunch at Summer more often, but it had been a while, and today I decided to try their ginger chicken salad.
There’s a piece of me that is still amazed every time I order a salad and it’s really awesomely good. I’ll order it, and feel good about myself, but my lizard brain will be screaming “THEY HAVE DUCK PAD THAI, WHAT ARE YOU DOING, YOU WILL REGRET THIS CHOICE.” But from the first bite of this one I was hooked, it was amazing. It was the chili lime dressing that sold it, too, hot and sweet and tart all at the same time.
Summer’s presentation is always amazing too, especially for a little storefront Thai place under the train stop. Their dishes are gorgeous, they take the time to plate things attractively, they cut the carrot slices into little hearts and stars. Can you tell I’m getting my energy back? I put a little more care into the presentation of tonight’s comic as well. :)
